Oh Thursday I had the ultimate relaxing girls night planned.
I met my girl Brittany for a drink and a catch up session, and together we attended the Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet as part of the Auckland Arts Festival. In New Zealand for the first time, Cedar Lake from New York performed three works by three innovative and contemporary choreographers. Cedar Lake was AMAZING. I love the ballet, the contemporary stuff in particular and this was mind blowingly good. The show lasted a little over two hours and I will be honest I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was.
The show ended and it was bed time. It had been a big week and I was feeling under the weather a night at the Rendezvous Hotel in Auckland was just what I needed to get in some ‘Me’ time and my stay from start to finish was exactly what I needed.
As I left the Civic it was pouring with rain and even though it was a short walk to the hotel (5 mins) I was going to get wet…or was I? – One of my favourite parts of the Rendezvous Hotel was the underground walkway which led me from the Aotera Centre straight to the hotel lobby. I arrived back at my hotel nice and dry. I had a relaxing bath and tea and hopped into my oh so comfortable bed. That bed was amazing. I took the Friday morning off work and slept in – I clearly needed it and was in bed till a little after 10! ekk.
On Friday, I was refreshed and ready to take on the weekend.
So far I have loved what I have seen from the Auckland Art’s Festival and the hotel stay made my night and week so much more enjoyable. It was the ‘Me’ time I needed and I really must do ‘stay-cations’ more often.
