Pitch Perfect 2

Our Rating

It’s back pitches. Pitch Perfect 2 is in Cinemas now and I went and checked it out.

Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and the rest of the gang are back! This time they are joined by newbie Hailee Steinfeld for another round of a cappella-related comedy as directed by the awesome Elizabeth Banks.

This time the ‘Barden Bellas’, the three-time defending US acapella champions have disgraced the singing community after a wardrobe malfunction at the President’s big birthday bash. There is no stopping the Bella’s however as they take their talents to an international competition that no American team has ever won.

I was pretty excited for the lead up of this film. The original ‘Pitch Perfect’ saw me fall in love with Anna Kendrick (Not as easy feat, I was not a fan of her in Twilight), See Elizabeth in a new light and don’t get me started on Rebel Wilson. LOVE HER.

Pitch Perfect 2 did not disappoint. I was in tears of laughter within the first 10 minutes and overall had a great night. In fact as I write this melodies are still circling my brain.

The only way I think Pitch Perfect 2 fell flat was with the multiple subplots. This movie had a-lot going on and at times it lost focus of what the audience really wanted and forgetting what made the first movie such a success.

John Michael Higgins and Elizabeth Banks (also the director) in Pitch Perfect 2.

John Michael Higgins and Elizabeth Banks (also the director) in Pitch Perfect 2.

It might be far from perfect but Pitch Perfect 2 ticked many boxes for me which is why I give it 3.5/5 stars.

Pitch Perfect 2 is in cinemas now and has a running time of 1hr 55mins with an M rating.
