Pitch Perfect 3 – A Movie Review

Starting 2018 with a bang we have Pitch Perfect 3.  A sequel to Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) and the third and final instalment in the Pitch Perfect trilogy. A trilogy I am now almost sad to see end.

Pitch Perfect 3 follows the girls, who are now graduated from college into the real world, as they take on and reunite for an overseas USO tour. The cast featuring Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, and Elizabeth Banks (To name a few) is joined with DJ Khaled and Ruby Rose to make an epic end in the Pitch Perfect franchise.

What do I love about Pitch Perfect? It is consistent. Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson continued starring roles and Kay Cannon is still the woman behind the script. The only difference is that Elizabeth Banks is still the producer but not the director like she was for Pitch Perfect 2. She is focusing on what she’s best at. Producing and playing the epic Gail.

The film overall was fast paced and entertaining. The jokes I loved, yet somewhere still a little obscure for me and went over my head. The soundtrack was also classic, a mix of songs and some classics in there too.

As an actress, Rebel Wilson stands out in Pitch Perfect 3 and especially where I hear that she improvised a lot if her lines throughout the movie as she did in Pitch Perfect 2.  Her lines were better and as a woman more powerful, more mature. I loved her.

The film was well rounded, finished nicely and was exactly what I wanted for the Bella’s. I feel like it’s a chapter closed and I am happy with it.

I am not gonna lie, Pitch Perfect 2 was not my jam so when invited to Pitch Perfect 3 I said yes with zero expectations. I left surprised and happy. Dare I say it but Pitch Perfect 3 was perhaps my favourite film from the franchise. It was THAT good.

Verdict: ⅘ Give it ago! It was aca-awesome.
