#longhairdontcare is my new favourite hashtag and I have Loxy’s Hair Boutique to thank for this!
For the last six months I have toyed with the idea of hair extensions and last month I took an exciting step and visited Auckland based salon Loxy’s Hair Boutique. Personally I had fine hair that was thin. I never wore my hair up and styling was never fun but I made it work. I had always wondered however what it would be like to have long luscious locks. I had seen amazing transformations over on their Instagram account and was slowly tempted to book in a consultation.
I headed into Loxy’s to find out more about the extensions, what they do and most importantly would I be a great candidate. My two main concerns where looking after my natural locks and of course on going costs if I was to get extensions – this girls on a budget.
At Loxy’s the technique used is one that has the most minimal effect on your natural hair. There is no gluing or bonding the technique instead is a combination of the traditional weave and using micro rings. I could see on the doll that the effect was more natural and that it would be better for me. Kate and I also looked at colours and discussed the best placement of the extensions to work with my hair and my lifestyle. We also talked about maintenance, all amazingly straightforward and super affordable. Every five to seven weeks I just need to return and have them lifted for $85 Pretty good! So naturally I booked in for some locks of my own.
The process was very exciting. Kate started to put in my extensions and I was a combination of nervous excited. Then the colour was applied, I had blonde ends which needed to be toned back just a tad. My locks where then blown out and loosely curled and I was beyond happy with the results. SO HAPPY!
At first it was weird, it still is. I get excited feeling hair on my shoulders but I do wonder why I didn’t do it earlier. Sure it takes a bit longer to wash and dry my hair in the mornings and I might use a little more product but the pros outweigh the cons. I can now style my hair! I even ‘snapchatted’ my first fishtail braid. As a bonus I also have gone down from washing my hair daily to every second day and this week I made a huge leap and didn’t wash my hair for three days! This is HUGE!
I couldn’t be happier! AND Stay tuned for updates and more hair related posts! Now that I have new locks I’m going hair crazy with new accessories and products to be tested out.
Loxys, you are amazing!
