So we all know that the key to the perfect make-up application comes down to the foundations.
Recently I have been really working to get my foundations correct and perfected and have been branching out from my usual MAC and Clinique combos to do what any good beauty blogger should do, play the field and mix it up.
I also have some tips for Liquid foundations which is worth reading to get the most out of your foundation.
Here is some of what I have been trying.
Drug Store Find / Cruelty Free
So awesome that this gem at $18.90 is cruelty free – in fact my first ever cruelty free foundation! Boom. So excited…but wait there is more! The Australis Mix It Colour Correcting Foundation is designed with pigments in yellow, mauve and green to reduce redness, conceal dark circles and leave skin more radiant in appearance. This foundation also features an SPF of 25 to help keep you sun safe and Liquorice Root Extract which is designed to help clear acne prone skin.
I have found this foundation light weight and giving a great medium to full coverage with a natural finish. It wears well too.
The Oil Control Foundation
My skin is a combination of oily and dry it can be quite the balancing act when it comes to looking after my skin and having foundation that lasts all day. Big Easy by Benefit does just that. Big Easy is a liquid-to- powder formula melts in like a cream, yet finishes lightweight and velvety like a powder whilst balancing moisture and controlling oil. It has an SPF 35 too!
Big Easy retail’s for NZD$69
The BB Foundation
Estée Lauder Double Wear All-Day Glow foundation or BB Cream is my new fav. I have been wearing this one to the gym when I see my boyfriend (because I still want to look good and impress) and this gem has me covered. This oil-free formula contains all the benefits of a BB cream but in a moisture-fresh, lightweight texture. I start the workout looking nice and natural with a glow and end the workout looking a feeling great.
The Estée Lauder Double Wear All-Day Glow Moisture Makeup is available in 5 shades from Estée Lauder counters RRP is NZ$69
It’s worth noting I love Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place 15hr Foundation.
The All In One
For me this was love at first sight. With long days in the office and event’s after I am in makeup for a full 12 hours a day at least. Bobbi Brown’s Bobbi’s Face Touch Up Palettes, which retail for NZ$80 are worth every penny. This palm-sized mirrored palette features Bobbi’s best-selling Corrector, Creamy Concealer, Skin Foundation Stick and Sheer Finish Pressed Powder in skin- tone correct shades. These four products are formulated to layer seamlessly and deliver an incredibly natural skin finish. Offered in a range of 9 shades there is something for everyone.
This is must have for my holiday in August.
The Foundation / Concealer
Clinique launched a new foundation in February the Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer and when it comes to non-fuss wear or application for days in the office or post gym then this is it. It is Lightweight yet moisturising while still giving coverage and allowing the skin to breathe.
It’s an all in one and has a recommended retail $64 so not too bad considering it’s a foundation and Concealer.
Have you tried a new foundation recently? I would love to get some recommendations.
