Four Things To Watch To Get You Thinking About Money Differently

A started 2017, without any credit card debt and it’s been life changing. For the last five years I had the good old credit card debt rolling over month by month a cycle I couldn’t seem to break the cycle. Now that the dumb debt is gone I have had a full attitude change! I now watch what I spend and how much I make and can I say it has perhaps made me money hungry.

You might want to read my blog post here with my money tips!

One way I have kept my spending in check is to watch inspiring films and television shows to get me in the mood. Here are some shows and movies to add to your watchlist.

  1. Confessions of a Shopaholic – This movie is class! Becky has credit card debt, Becky finally learns she needs to sell some items to make up that cash!
Ironically I watched this while loading half my wardrobe onto Trademe
  2. Extreme Cheapskates – You won’t actually learn anything but it is a great watch. Extreme Cheapskates is well, extreme. One man, for example, eats road kill because he hates food to go to waste.
  3.  Living On One Dollar – This is a Netflix Documentary about some American friends attempting to exist on a dollar a day for two months to experience life in extreme poverty.
This film was super heart warming but it made me grateful if anything. It gave me respect for money.
  4. Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things – examines the many flavors of minimalism by taking the audience inside the lives of minimalists from all walks of life—families, entrepreneurs, architects, artists, journalists, scientists, and even a former Wall Street broker—all of whom are striving to live a meaningful life with less.
This film has made me feel at peace with not needing to own 40 lipsticks and love a smaller more manageable collection. It has also stopped me from spending money on ‘Fun’ items, that last all but a month.

I’m keen to keep this buzz going, do you have any suggestions for me?
