Six Tips for Healthy Entertaining this Festive Season

The festive season is fun and joyous, and I Love it, but with the festive season comes plenty of events and I personally find it a challenge to stay focused and on the plan.

Luckily we have stores such as Huckleberry in New Zealand which are filled with health-conscious and eco-friendly options I know I am safe, no matter what I pick.

I try to stick to platters for my festive events as I find that less stress, and I can make the most out of time with my friends, and on Christmas eve I usually hold dinner for my parents.

I have selected five of my favourite tips for healthy entertaining which you might find helpful.

Plan and Prepare.
The week before the party I usually start writing out a menu and a shopping list. If I need inspiration, I head online to Huckleberry.co.nz and shop online. I also go through my own pantry and see what I have and what I need. Sometimes I will do an online shop of the dry ingredients and then go the morning of for the fresh items. Having a list not only means you will be efficient, but it will help you feel less stressed.

Have Plenty of Options

Go nuts, literary go nuts at the Huckleberry Refill hub. I mean all sorts of nuts, almonds, cashews, peanuts, you name it. Having lots of healthy options on the platters and mixes makes for a great plate and if there are leftovers, you have options too. I also find lots of little things create colour and opportunities on your grazing table.

Shop for you, don’t be afraid of only having only healthy options.
very Christmas I have an annual Christmas party, and I used to buy food I thought my friends would want, and then some food for me. I found that in my environment, my home, it was the carrot sticks and homemade hummus which went and the doughnuts that were left at the end of the night.

With a lot happening, and people hustling to end the year on a high they are often letting nutrition slip, so by providing nourishment your party will be a hit. Now I only buy food, which if there are leftovers then I am fine. Same goes if attending a party, take what you want and will eat and don’t be worried if it is the last plate standing, if you love it, then that is all that matters.

Have fun when laying out all of the items.

Use tea such as Clipper Organic Wild Berry Tea to make a refreshing cold brew mocktail.
Make your own Kombucha!

Prepare for after the party

Let’s make the clean up easy! Make sure you have some natural cleaning products and paper-towels in hand. Add those to the shopping list now and it will make life a breeze.
I Also recommend using some baking or parchment paper as the base of my platters. The If You Care Parchment Baking Roll will save your night!
