Food Love: The Kitchen by Mr Toms

Since it opened Mr. Toms, located in central Ponsonby, has become a local regular. Recently they have stepped it up a notch with The Kitchen by Mr Toms, a modern bistro taking up a small but intimate 40-seater space downstairs as ran by head chef Tom Williamson. I went to check it out.  On arrival we started with the newest cocktail 'Make You Blush, ' and it was AMAZING. It was a mix of Gin, peach liqueur, raspberries lemon juice and egg white and well it, made me blush. Get in quick however as this is special for Valentine's day.

The food had to be my favourite part! I started with the Kingfish Crudo with Whipped Avocado, and I shared the Ricotta and Herb Ravioli with my guest also. As a main my date for the evening had the eye fillet with smoked bone-marrow butter and triple-cooked chips, I had the Pan Fried Gnocchi - which I loved.

Finishing on a sweet note, the desserts don’t fail to deliver either with dishes like salted caramel mousse with honeycomb and orange and Roast Peach with Yuzu Curd, White Chocolate and Macadamia Crumble gracing our table.

Overall I enjoyed my experience, it was a cute date, with good service and great food. We left smiling.
