I was fortunate enough to be introduced to kabuki himself and hear first person about his multi functional range with MAC Cosmetics. the MAC Cosmetics kabuki Magic Range features products all designed and named by Kabuki himself.  Born in London and based in New York, Kabuki has worked with some seriously major names. Kabuki is the man behind Carrie Bradshaw's Sex and The City look. Since then he has created memorable looks for Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani and Madonna, and is still a regular contributor to Italian Vogue as well as US Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Allure and Numero.

He started off by saying that he even got to name the Products and the Names were in fact inspired by David Bowie and Joan Crawford.

We watched him as he applied a look he felt was very "Joan Crawford" after he proceeded to say that "There is something about taking off someone else's lipstick that feels odd"

Kabuki was very proud of his collection. He held up an eye brush and smiled! "a mini triumph in the collection is his eye brush."

He often referenced Instagram, saying it was Interesting to see what people do with his range. They are doing things he hasn't even thought of. Instagram was a good outlet to experiment.

Often he would have to blend the lip colors to get what he wanted. He made a very realistic nude shade.

The lipstick 'Nude' he described as a" Cool nude with some lavender in it."He also referred to the paints as if they were "like a colored primer." As he applied 'WIN' to her eyelids. He continued with the use of Dazzleshadow from The Shining Hour Platte as a highlighter in this multifaceted range.

"Neural shadows are great on the brows as well. Not overly brown" - and in fact he was a man of his word. He processed to use the nude brown on the models brows. The color - Trog from The Best of Everything.

"Don't be scared of the makeup. The ad is a little intimidating but I wanted something eye catching.

The range features some of his go-to colors for fashion shows as well as photo shoots - He took the colors he mixed together on a Kendal Jenner photo shoot for Japan.

When talking about Adolescent Crystal Glaze Gloss in Ice Follies he said "I wanted the option that you could use a lot or a little" "This is a lipgloss and an eye gloss"

Kabuki taught me that there were no limits. To break the rules. To have fun.

The range hits stores on February the 20th and I cannot wait.
